The Academy Awards – known as The Oscars – are a set of 24 awards that celebrate artistic and technical merit on our screens. The winners are judged by an Academy voting panel, which is a highly honored membership that consists of 1,200 people!

As the Oscars receive so many viewers, it’s a perfect time for celebrities to use them to campaign for what is important to them. This year, Ashley Judd, Salma Hayek and Annabella Sciorra used the stage to deliver a message – Time’s Up – to everyone who was watching. This ‘protest’ was about the allegations of sexual harassment that have been highlighted in the media recently, and how women shouldn’t keep quiet.

The protest has happened at ceremonies all over the world, including the BRIT Awards where women wore white roses  to show solidarity with all those women who have allegedly been affected.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of the Oscars 2018!
