mex (Small)Opening evening this year in the languages department had a new flavour to it.  Our young Germanists and Hispanophones offered up a tasty selection of continental treats to anyone who passed through our doors.  However, there was a catch involved – they had to have a conversation in German or Spanish first!

“I am really enjoying learning Spanish in Year 7 as it is a completely new language for me.  I spoke to so many children and adults on the night – all in Spanish!  I loved trying out the foods myself too.”  Ebony, Y7

“I loved dressing up in traditional Mexican outfits.  I think it helped make the night good fun for everyone who came to see us.”  Cooper, Y7

“Learning a language is such a good idea as it means you will be able to have conversations with people when you go to their country on holiday.  The Open Evening was a good chance to meet new pupils and show them what Chantry is like.”  Luke, Y7

“I think it was a really successful night because everyone who came in had a great time.  They all tried to speak a new language and the little cards we had with key phrases on were very helpful.”  Jessica, Y8
