Over the past years, many Chantry students from all years have taken part in a creative arts (performing arts) award. Students collect evidence for a special portfolio which is sent away for checking and evaluating; once this process has taken place, you get back your projects and get a special certificate.

When you get into Arts Award there are four different parts, part A, part B, part C and part D. Part A is taking part. This consists of collecting evidence to complete this certain part. For example, I included my dance, acting and singing in my part A taking part.

The next part is part B, arts review. Elise used  going to see hairspray for her arts review experience. She included how the show made her feel and how well put together the show was, she also included what her favourite parts were.

Part C is arts inspiration. For this part of evidence, we have to include facts and information about our arts inspirations / people who inspire us in the performing arts world. For example I included Matt Stephannia (a fantastic street dancer and choreographer)  as the person who inspires me, I also included Darcey Bussell an amazing prima ballerina. Elise included information about Ariana Grande and why she inspired her so much and how dedication pulls off, as it did in Ariana’s case. Part D is Skillshare. This is where you used the skills that you know and help other students and people out of school develop those skills so they can also use them in the future. This piece of evidence gives us the opportunity to use our peoples skills and develop them further.

Here we have Miss Wilson’s (Head of Arts Award) interview…

Elise: How long have you done Arts Award for?

Miss Wilson: I have been doing Arts Award for 3 years now.

Elise: What do you enjoy the most about Arts Award?

Miss Wilson: I like seeing the children’s progress and how the work on their own.

Elise: Why did you choose to do Arts Award within this school?

Miss Wilson: Because there are lots of talented students in Chantry and Newminster and I like to see what they’re capable of.

Lottie: What do you feel like the students achieve by doing this project?

Miss Wilson: I feel like the children get a good experience and understanding of their capability and also they get a qualification at the end of the project.

Lottie: How important do you think it is for students to be involved in this creative experience.

Miss Wilson: In my opinion it is really important because it helps them to develop their skills and know their potential and have a good time doing it.

Lottie: Which part is the most interesting and why (Part A, part B, part C or part D)?

Miss Wilson: Part A because it gets you most involved within the activities that we do.
